Firewood is not one commodity. The species decides the heat output and how long it burns; the log length decides whether it fits the firebox at all. We set both against what you heat with.
More heat per cubic metre and a long, steady burn. The choice for stoves and boilers where you want one load to last the evening.
Catches quickly and dries faster. The cheaper option for lighting the fire, for seasonal heating or where you only heat occasionally.
We cross-cut the stems on our own forestry processor, which measures the length with a measuring wheel. Send us the size of the loading opening and we will handle the rest.
By the cubic metre, not by eye.
Firewood is supplied by the loose cubic metre, and every offer states which unit it is calculated in. Loose, stacked and solid cubic metres are three different numbers, and the most common reason two offers do not match. With us the species, the log length, the unit and the delivery are all listed separately.

What customers ask most
What is a loose cubic metre and how much wood is that?
A loose cubic metre is a 1 × 1 × 1 m box of loosely tipped split wood, gaps between the logs included. It is a different unit from a stacked cubic metre or a solid cubic metre, so every offer we send states which unit it uses — that way you can compare like with like.
Is hardwood or softwood better?
Hardwood — beech, oak or hornbeam — gives more heat per cubic metre and burns longer. Softwood catches faster and dries faster, but burns through sooner. For stoves and boilers hardwood usually pays; for lighting the fire and occasional heating, softwood.
Do you supply seasoned firewood?
It depends on what is available at the time. We tell you the moisture content straight, because it decides the heat output. If the wood still needs seasoning, we say so in advance so you know when you can burn it.
What lengths do you cut to?
We normally handle 25, 33 and 50 cm, but we cross-cut on our own forestry processor, which measures length and diameter, so we can match your firebox. The size of the loading opening is all we need.
What does firewood cost?
We send the price with a specific offer. The species, the log length, the volume, how seasoned the wood is and the delivery to your address all go into it, so a single number on a website would be wrong for most customers anyway. Send us the volume and the location and we will prepare the offer.
How many cubic metres do you need?
Send us the volume, what you heat with and where it should go. We will come back with availability, log length and a price including delivery.
